Science-Based Support for Spaniels with Separation Anxiety

Blending evidence‑based desensitisation with emotionally attuned support to help your dog feel safe being home alone.

Is Your Spaniel Struggling with Separation Anxiety?

You adore your Spaniel, but their separation anxiety is breaking your heart.

When your spaniel begins to worry the moment you even think about leaving, they’re really saying:

“I don’t feel safe when you’re gone”.

Separation anxiety can show up in many ways:

  • Barking, whining, howling

  • Panting, drooling, pacing

  • Destructive behaviour

  • Chewing & scratching doors or furniture

  • Toileting indoors

But with the right support, that fear can change.

Why Common Fixes Don’t Help Spaniel Separation Anxiety

You’ve tried it all, puzzle toys, long walks, calming music, supplements, but nothing seems to work. It’s not just frustrating. It’s heartbreaking.

Why Solutions Fail

Most quick fixes target the symptoms, not the root cause — fear.

What Actually Helps

Separation anxiety requires specialist, science-based desensitisation training, delivered at your dog’s emotional pace.

The hidden cost of living with separation anxiety

It’s not just your dog that suffers — you do too. Every departure is filled with guilt and worry.

You might be:

  • Planning your whole life around their fear

  • Second-guessing decisions

  • Carrying their anxiety with you

  • Feeling overwhelmed and guilty when you leave

These feelings are completely normal — most guardians experience them long before they find the right support.

FAQs

Clear answers to the questions almost every guardian asks:

  • It’s okay to be unsure , especially if you’ve already tried so many things and nothing’s helped. But here’s the truth:

Separation anxiety isn’t a lost cause. Your dog isn’t broken. They’re just overwhelmed and they haven’t had the kind of support that meets them where they are.

This work is rooted in science and led with heart. I’ve supported dogs of all breeds, ages, and backgrounds. With consistency, kindness, and the right guidance, change is absolutely possible.

  • It’s natural to want a timeline, to ask “how much longer will life feel like this?”

And while I can’t promise quick fixes, I can promise this: we’ll go as fast as your dog’s nervous system allows, without pushing or pressuring.

Most families start seeing meaningful shifts within a few months, sometimes sooner. The progress might be quiet at first, but it sticks. You won’t be doing this alone. And you won’t be stuck in support forever. I’ll help you build skills that last long after training ends.

Want to know more about the process?

Check out our detailed approach here.

  • Yes , and we’ll talk about how.

Life keeps going, even while you’re supporting your dog. You may not be able to train and leave in the same moment, but we’ll work together to create a flexible plan that balances real life and steady progress.

That might mean a pet sitter, planning around departures, or simply choosing “management days” where the focus isn’t on training, just protecting your dog’s stress levels. You don’t need to be perfect, you just need a plan. And that’s what I’m here for.

  • Not always, but sometimes, yes. Medication + Behaviour modification is a powerful combination and can give you the best chance to resolve your dogs separation anxiety.

Medication is not failure. It’s care.

If your dog is too anxious to feel safe, they might need support to calm their nervous system enough to even begin the learning process. Medication can give your dog emotional breathing room. It doesn’t replace training. It supports it.

This is never a one-size-fits-all decision. If we think it could help, I’ll guide you in having kind, informed conversations with your vet. No pressure, no judgement. Just options.

  • You’ve probably already poured time, energy, and money into this. You’re exhausted. So yes, this question matters.

What I offer isn’t a quick course or one-size-fits-all solution. It’s thoughtful, 1:1 support designed around your dog, your home, your life. We’ll go slowly and gently but we will move forward.

If you want training that prioritises trust over pressure, that teaches you the tools to become your dog’s steady guide, then yes. This is worth it.

Because peace is possible — and you deserve it, too.

  • I get it, when you’re investing your time, money and energy into something this important, you want to feel safe doing so.

And while I can’t promise exactly when your dog will be comfortable alone — no ethical trainer can — I can promise this:

🕊️ You’ll never be rushed or left guessing.

🕊️ Your dog will be met with compassion, not pressure.

🕊️ You’ll always know the “why” behind every step we take.

🕊️ You’ll have support through the wobbles, the setbacks, and the slow days.

What I can guarantee is the quality of my care: thoughtful, responsive, evidence-based support tailored to your dog and your life. This work is deep and gentle — not transactional.

And when we stay committed to your dog’s safety and emotional wellbeing? That’s when real, lasting change becomes possible.

  • All of my support is fully online and that’s by design.

Why? Because separation anxiety training works best when your dog is in their normal home environment, with no extra distractions or visitors (even lovely ones like a trainer!).

This approach allows us to observe your dog’s real responses and make quiet, intentional progress from the comfort of your own home.

    🌿 No car rides.
    🌿 No waiting rooms.
🌿 Just thoughtful, tailored support, delivered right where you and your dog need it most.

Whether you're in the UK, across the globe, or in your dressing gown on the sofa — I'm right there with you, every step of the way.

Reviews from the families I support

Kim has been an amazing support for me and Lola. She helped me really understand Lola’s needs and behaviour, and explained everything in a way that was clear, practical, and easy to follow.

Kim is always kind, patient, and understanding, and her knowledge and experience really show in every session. I’ve learned so much and feel far more confident as a dog owner thanks to her guidance. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Kim to anyone looking for a knowledgeable, supportive, and genuinely caring dog trainer.

- Sarah & Lola

If you are looking for a patient, calm and caring trainer - Kim is for you!

Right from the start, Kim created a relaxed atmosphere where our highly anxious cockerpoo, Ted, could focus, respond to and enjoy the techniques she had tailored for him. Her sessions were well structured and unrushed and we soon noticed an increase - not only in Ted’s confidence - but ours as well! After just a few sessions, he was noticeably more attentive and responsive.

We were impressed with Kim’s understanding and knowledge of dog behaviour and would highly recommend - particularly with issues around anxiety.
